At Shadowing Coach ("we," "us," or "our"), we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you use our mobile application (the "Service").

        Privacy by Design: Our Service is built on the principle of data minimization. We do not maintain user accounts on our servers, and we do not store your private audio recordings or learning history in a central database. Your data stays on your device.
    

1. Information We Collect and How We Use It

A. Audio and Voice Data

To provide feedback on your pronunciation and fluency, the Service requires access to your device’s microphone.

Collection: We only access the microphone when you manually trigger the recording function.
Processing: Your voice data is converted into a digital format and sent securely to Google Gemini API for transient analysis. This data is used solely to provide real-time feedback.
Non-Retention: We do not store your audio on our servers. Recordings are either kept in volatile memory (deleted upon closing) or stored locally in your device's private storage (for Premium users) which we cannot access.

B. Device Permissions

To function correctly, we may request:

Microphone: Necessary for recording your speech practice.
Storage: Necessary to save your progress and audio files locally (Premium only).
Network Access: Necessary to stream video content and communicate with AI analysis services.

2. Third-Party Services and Data Transfer

We work with third-party providers who are also committed to data protection:

AI Analysis (Google Gemini): Your voice/text data is processed via Google Cloud. Based on our enterprise-grade API configuration, this data is not used to train Google's foundational models.
YouTube API Services: We use YouTube's API to provide educational video content. Your interaction with these videos is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.

3. Data Security and Encryption

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

Encryption in Transit: All data sent between the App and third-party APIs (like Google Gemini) is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS).
Local Security: Data stored on your device is protected by your operating system’s (iOS/Android) native security sandbox, preventing other apps from accessing Shadowing Coach data.

4. No Sale of Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or voice data to third parties. We are not an ad-supported platform, and your data is never used for profiling or targeted advertising.

5. User Rights and Data Control

Depending on your location (e.g., GDPR in Europe, CCPA in California), you have the following rights:

Right to Deletion: You can delete all your data at any time by deleting individual records within the app or by uninstalling the app.
Right to Access: Since we do not store your data on our servers, you can access your data directly through the app interface on your device.
Right to Opt-out: You can revoke microphone or storage permissions at any time through your device settings, though this may limit app functionality.

6. International Data Transfers

Because we use global infrastructure (like Google Cloud), your data may be processed in countries outside of your own. However, this processing is transient and protected by standard contractual clauses ensuring a high level of data protection.

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information immediately.

8. Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy and providing a notice within the App.

Note: Uninstalling the App will result in the permanent loss of all locally stored practice data and Premium audio files. We cannot recover this data for you as we do not have a copy.
